The Seed and The Star - (non-canon)

((I'm gonna tell you guys in advance that my headcanon voice for Goro is a bit of a mix between the characters Aldo from Sitting Ducks (when speaking loudly) and Draykor from Wander Over Yonder (when speaking softly), so hopefully that'll give you all a little bit of context in how he's supposed to read! .;D))

".........how many years've I been stuck in this stupid place?"
"Was it a hundred now?............ three??" Goro asked himself, sitting back in a cushy bean bag chair that was cast aside in a lonely little nook. Haphazardly abandoned just like the rest of this expansive building he was trapped in. 
"Nnnagh what's the POINT!?" He shouted, throwing himself onto his feet. "Don't even know why I'm TRYING to keep track again......"
He moaned, letting out a heavy sigh and staring at the dust-ridden floor. "...s'not like that's ever gotten any closer to home."

The room then sat in an uncomfortable silence before he slammed his fist against the wall; riling up all the sediment that was caked into it after years of neglect. "I'm SUCH AN IDIOT for trusting that guy! If he even thinks about laying a finger on dad I'll..." He paused mid-thought. As he begrudgingly let out another sigh, he let himself drop back to his seat. "I'll do what... I can't even do a thing for myself..." He resolved.

Without his dad around to guide him- he's been at a complete loss.

Nobody to tell him right from wrong
Nobody to tell him north from south
Nobody to tell him... anything.

"Stuck talking to m'self all day and night like some- crazy person. ThiS IS my LIFE I guess!" He wailed, voice starting to crack while his emotions began bubbling over.
"...I just-" 
"-wish I could talk to someone."
"Someone REAL. I-If I have to sit here on this s-stuPID space rock for the REST of my life I jus-"

"...I JUS WISH IT DIDN'T HAVE TO BE ALONE!"

Meanwhile, just beyond the little asteroid Goro was stranded on happened to be a small gleam of light; soaring through the vastness of space. As it was heading in another direction it paused to look towards his home, and made a sudden change in its course. Now at an immense speed, it begun to travel straight towards his doorstep.
But,
it seemed to not be the only one up there changing directions...

After a few hours time; the little glimmer that was soaring down from space crashed into asteroid's surface. The little light flickered out, as a tiny figure staggered its way upright. She wobbled up unsteadily from her little crater, and looked up towards the only building that she saw. It was a large blue construct with a glass dome, and up from the center protruded an enormous rod with a 5-point star, not unlike the one that embellished her collar. Around the building also stood two identical towers, glowing a myriad of bright rainbow colors.

A bit frazzled from the landing, she mustered the strength to walk her way up to the door. By the time she was at its foot, the handles seemed at least 5 feet from her head! She didn't seem discouraged though, as with a quick wave of the strange pen in her hand, out came a warm trail of glowing light that tied itself around the door's handle. Then with all of her might she yanked the door open just enough to creep her way inside.

"...Hewoh?"
"Isth amybody heouh?" The little girl asked, clutching the bottom of her baggy little suit.

Just a short distance down the hall, Goro had to stifle his gross sobbing when his eyes had swelled wide.

Was...
Was that a voice?

Quickly he scrambled up from where he sat, and hid behind the wall that separated himself from the lobby.
His eyes were all that illuminated the darkness as he gawked in disbelief from the little figure that was calling for him in the middle of the floor.
"C-cam you come out? Amyone??" The girl asked again, looking around awkwardly and appearing disheartened that nobody had yet replied.

Goro's hands were trembling, and a ball of nerves was knotted in his non existent throat. But the second she looked to be turning away- his hand lunged out from him. 

"W-WAIT- I'm here!" 

"I-I-"

Before he could step into the light, he immediately drew himself back. He hadn't really looked at himself in a while, but he was pretty sure a kid that small that would be scared off at the mere sight of him. At least from the sheer size...

However, hearing his voice gave the child the exact opposite reaction, with a smile blooming on her face.
"You ARE!?" She squealed, fidgeting around to try and spot him- 

-before pausing awkwardly.

"U-Um- cam you come out then? Pwease?" She plead.

Goro rattled his fingers along the edge of the wall corner, desperate for an idea... The only one he came to he wasn't exciting about using, but at this point it was his ONLY option.
Forcing his hand around the root on his head- he gave it a firm tug that caused him to shrink in size. The large arms and stature he once bore now receded to a form about as frightening as a gumdrop. He had to shake himself off from the dizzyness of the transformation. It had been centuries since he had any reason to change back- but he'd have to fight it off with his other emotions and hobble out to greet his new guest.

"I-I'm-......" 
"I'm here." He mustered out, a doofy smile growing on his face to otherwise mask the rest of his anxiety in the moment.

"I heard your wisth." The girl told him softly, stepping up closer to sit in front of him.
"Huh??" Goro asked, taken aback from what she could mean.
She seemed offput from his reaction, and started to rub the back of her head meekly. "You... sthaid that you wisthed you werem't awome? Thab you'd have sthomeome to talk to?" She asked, looking around the room nervously before locking her gaze back to him.

"...Thab was you- wasthm't it?"

Goro just stood there with his mouth agape, jaw twitching as he had to suck his expression back so he could muster up a nod for her.
"Ye-... y-yes."
"That was me-" He blubbered out, still in total disbelief at how this was happening.
"That was me.~" He sobbed, tears now pouring from his eyes so quickly that they were evaporating into steam.

The little girl scooched up against him, using her elbow to smear the tears off his face. "O-okay.~ We cam start wif this: What'sth yoh name?" She offered calmly.
Goro's eyes continued to fidget in worry, wondering if this was even reality or not. The girl seemed to at least be patient with his breakdown, as he recollected his gross sobbing in an enormous sigh- embers flying out the cracks of his mouth before he gave out a response.
"It's GoRo.~" He told her, with a crack in his voice.
She seemed elated with his reply. "Thabs a pwetty name.~"

"So-"
"uh..." 
"w-we could go into another room to uh... talk?" 
"If-if you- if you want?" Goro offered haphazardly.
The little star nodded, standing herself upright and eagerly starting to toddle behind him.

Unfortunately, they forgot that the front door was still open.

Quietly, a slithering dark figure crept in, looming over the both of them. Its sharp teeth were curled into a cheshire like grin, and drool seeped from its maw. Its six beady eyes fixated on the little lump of light that was standing just beneath it, and a growl burbled up from its throat as its hands spread out towards the girl while she still acted oblivious.

Goro turned for a brief second to make sure his new friend was still following, but what his eyes met the horror that was hunched above her instead.

"H-HEY"

"LOOK OUT!"

Goro went into a hysterical panic, unsure of what to do.
"J-JUST HANG ON OKAY!?" He shouted to her, but stammered reassurance wasn't going to do anything! He had to do something,

FAST

Skittering around like a spinning top, his eyes quickly darted to the banister of a stairwell behind him, and with a sudden lunge he wrapped the root on his head around it to pull as hard as he might.

Flipping himself back to his more colossal size, he had thrown himself up into the air in the process. His left fist was pulled tight behind his head, and within seconds the creature's skull was plowed down into the surface. The frightened star flew out of the monster's grip, and she splattered her torso onto the floor before scrambling over to press herself back against the wall.

Goro nearly obliterated the bestial looking creature, winding his arm back in the doorway to fling the demon completely out of their atmosphere. His expression was livid with anger and determination, as both his fists clenched up against his sides once he made certain that the beast was really gone.

But,

The second his head turned to peer at what was now quivering on the floor behind him,

-it melted into morbid heart break.

His head felt light, and his chest was knotted all over again.
He desperately wanted to say something to her.

Anything.

But the words couldn't be coaxed out of his lips.


His body violently started to shake at the thought of what could happen next. His mind was telling him this would be a bad idea, that his chance of her liking him was alREADY wasted. But his heart was telling him to at least try to find out if he was wrong.

Very quietly he took a few steps forward, watching her petrified face as he lowered himself down onto his stomach.
Then, without any words,
he stretched his hand out to her side.

She was still quaking, lurching from the touch of his massive fingers against her shoulder.
Goro let out a heavy gulp as he watched the way she reacted,
but then gasped in surprise when the little star scrambled up to wail into his shoulder.

"You... you mean you're not afraid of me??" He asked, hesitating on whether to pull his hands up to console her or not.
"Are you CWAZY!?" She angrily sassed him, causing him to lurch back in shock. 
"You jus SABED MY WIFE and you fink that YOU'RE what I'm afwaid ob!?" She scolded while throwing her arms about.

The little girl sighed, putting her hand on one of his cheeks to turn his gaze back over. "If it wasthn't for you- I woulda beem im that Weepeon's STHOMACK by now!" She shouted, her face beaming yellow and red in a flustered tizzy.
"Weepeon??" Goro mimicked with one eye squinted. "Y-...you mean you KNEW what that thing was!?" He shouted with worry, sitting upright and watching as the girl looked down into her lap.
"Y-yeah... " She stammered. "They feed offa a WOT of wight, and sthince my peepa are made outta wight... I... forgopt that I coulb attwact emm..." She finished, curling her body up to sob into her pants.

There was a small moment of silence, as Goro was taking this all in,
but it was broken by one of the most baffling questions he had heard in his life.

"C-can I pwease stay wif you??"

"...w-w..."
"w-WhAt??" He asked, his voice cracking again as he leaned back from her.
The frantic star stood up, desperation in her eyes as she clawed at the edge of his pants. "PWEASE!? I dom't wamma go back out daouh-" She paused, choking a bit on her tears while her face grew brighter and brighter. "-at weast mot yet!"
"An-an an pwus I STILL habm't gottem to gwant yoh wish!"

Goro still hadn't responded, but he more than well knew his answer as tears and steam began to well up in his own eyes, but with a smile beaming below them instead of a frown.

After a few moments, the little lightbulb found herself embraced in the arms of a giant heatlamp, who's face was glowing with a giant smile for her while cradling her against his chest.
"Yes-" Goro finally replied with an embarrassed laugh.
"Y-yehes of course you can stay with me.~ <3"

"Bonus" Epilogue

Several minutes later

"So..." Goro muttered awkwardly, as the two continued to sit in the middle of the lobby.
"Wat isth it??" The young star asked.
Goro looked off to the side a bit, his cheeks starting to glow as he rubbed his hand against one. "I uh- don't think I actually got your name yet." He told her guiltily.

The girl tilted her head to the side, somewhat lost by the comment.
"Name?..."
She pondered, looking up at the immensely tall ceiling with a finger to her chin before smiling back at him. "I dom't weawwy hab one.~"
"Y-You don't?" Goro asked somewhat sadly.

"Wewh no." 
"Staouhs are apost ta be named by theouh furst fwiend, simce wewh not born ob amy pawents..." She explained, Goro listening intently before lurching back at her abrupt finger point to him.

"So I guess you gotta gib me one!"
"M-me!?" He stammered nervously, getting no more than a chipper nod in response.

Goro stared at the girl and her unwavering smile, questioning if this is really a good idea or not...
Still, if what she said was true- she might be stuck with this name for life, so he wanted to try and make this count.

He set the little star up on his shoulder and slumped over for a moment in thought. She leaned over curiously as he made funny looking faces in thought, until he hit on of his fists into the other palm.

"How does Kito sound??"
The girl blinked a few times before furrowing her brows almost sarcastically. "Ism't that jus youh name wif a 'K' on it??"

Goro was immediately flustered at her response and flushed in bright yellow. "N-no! It isn't! I-I was just trying to pick something simple to remember!"
"Yew jus wamted it to whime wif youh name didn't you?"
"The 'o' was just a coincidence! I was GONNA say 'Kit' but that seemed too short!"
"Sthou yew were gomma name me aftur a kitty?"

"NO I WASN'T-" 
"I-I'm... not saying you LOOK like a kitty-... I-I MEAN a cat...
"I-"
"I just-"
His face was completely flushed. Embers were sparking out of his mouth as he nervously stammered but he stopped when the little girl eventually broke out into laughter. His mood started to calm down but then caused him looked away with embarrassment. "I-I can try to come up with something else, okay??"

The girl rubbed a tear or two out of her eyes from giggling before she responded to him. "Nehehonno.~ It's fime." She said, causing him to blink with a little surprise. "I wike whiming wif yew.~" She said as she hugged the side of his face, causing him to smile warmly.
